KEVIN MONKS
RESTORATION
PAGE 1
Kevin 1st visit to see the Dart he bought.
Kevin must be very keen. There is a lot of work to be done!
Look engine, gearbox etc.
In side of the car.
Kevin has traced the History of his car.
I purchased the car in January 2001 after seeing
it advertised in a local paper. On viewing the car it was as seen in the
photographs. The body had been removed and the chassis stripped of it's
running gear. I found numerous new parts that were dated 1972 and so
assumed it had been dismantled since that date.
The seller had purchased the building along with
the car. There was no documentation for the Dart and against my better
judgement I purchased it for £2,500 ( the seller knew the value of the car
unfortunately).
The Dart was displaying registration plates
from Cape Town in South Africa. In the boot were British plates, I didn't know
if these related to the Daimler or not. I applied to DVLA for the British
mark, and thankfully was issued with the appropriate V5 a few weeks later.
My first job was to establish if all the major
components were present, although in a shocking state they were.
